Reading this morning from one of my favorite journals, Weavings, and came across this wonderful statement in an article called "Heart: Lost and Found" by Jane M. Herring. Herring talks about her difficult journey of developing writing into a spiritual practice, and then says this:
I discovered more and more artists and writers who lived the creative life as a devotion, an offering to God: surrendering their art to God in order to be formed in God's will, connecting the human heart's desire to the heart of Jesus Christ. They shared with me a sacred vision: from the seemingly chaotic life of the writer and artist can come the elegance of the Spirit's ordering, God molding and creating us through our own acts of creativity. May you engage in creativity today that draws you closer to the heart of God, where nothing can stay the same.
